
The Civil Aviation in Armenia was established in September 1933 when the Armenian independent air detachment started regular flights on Yerevan-Tbilisi route from the Southern (current "Erebuni") Airport in Yerevan.
By the decision of the RA Government September 30 is declared the Civil Aviation Day.

Steps to geographical expansion of the Armenian civil aviation
Within the scope of the Conference on Negotiations for Air Communication, from June 26 to July 4, 2010 in Montego Bay, Jamaica, the delegation of the General Department of Civil Aviation at the Government of the Republic of Armenia, lead by Artyom Movsesyan, the director General of Civil Aviation, held negotiations with delegations of CAA of State of Kuwait, UAE, Kingdom of Bahrain, Republic of Iceland and Kingdom of Spain.
