“Today we are putting the new control tower into operation in Yerevan  “Zvartnots” airport. This event has coincided with the 10th anniversary  of  “ARMATS” company foundation. One of the main guidelines in our activity has been the  implementation of ICAO international standards.  In my  opinion  the affiliation  to EUROCONTROL  since  2006 has also substantially helped the company with the progress in the field of  air navigation ”, mentioned Artyom Movsesyan, the head the General Department of Civil Aviation, in his speech during the inauguration  ceremony of the new control tower.

The new  tower  complies with the international and European  standards in  legal,  procedural and technical  respects.

The participants of ICAO European Region High-Level Seminar on Safety Management, held in Yerevan in recent days, were present at the inauguration  ceremony, too.

“I am pleased to convey my congratulations to the citizens of the Republic of Armenia, to “Armenia” international airports” CJSC and to those with whose endeavors we have obtained the new building of passenger departure and arrival. In my opinion such a building with modern conveniences  is used for VIP services in many countries with high living standards but in our airport similar level of services is reachable not only for business  but also for ordinary    passengers. This is also the result of  the direct control of the President of the Republic of Armenia”,- noted Artyom Movsessyan, the Head of the General Department of Civil Aviation at the Republic of Armenia,  in his speech pronounced  during the inauguration  ceremony  of the building of  “Zvartnots” international airport.

In order to possess a comfortable and solid building in the respect of  safety  state-of-the-art and the newest technologies have been used  here.

New flight information announcement system, ground handling special equipment, contemporary  automatic systems of  passenger check-in and baggage registration have been installed.

In the new departure hall 800-1000 passengers can be provided with service which annually amounts to 2m passengers. On June 1, 2007  the first passengers  were seen off from the new arrival  hall of “Zvartnots” international airport.
