Led by the provisions of Paragraph 9 of the Annex to the Decision # 177-N of 11 December 2003 “On Establishing the Order for Investigation, Classification, and Registration of the Aviation Accidents and Incidents in the RA,” expert commission has been established according to the Order # 22-A of 14 February 2008 of the Director General of the GDCA of RA to carry out investigation of the crash of Bombardier CRJ LR plane of “Belavia” Airlines, which took place in “Zvartnots” International Airport on 14 February 2008.
Head of the Commission – B. Goryunov, Head of the department of the UN Commission for Investigation of Aviation Accidents.
Deputy-Head of the Commission – S. Karapetyan, Head of the Flight Safety Department of the GDCA of RA.
Commission Members:
I. Melnik – Department Head of the Intergovernmental Aviation Committee,
P. Komardin – Chief Expert of the Scientific and Technical Maintenance of the UN,
G. Galstyan – Deputy Head of the Flight Safety Department of the GDCA of RA,
D. Chibiryak – Deputy Head of the State Department for Flight Safety and Aviation Safety of the Ministry of Transport and Communication of the Republic of Belarus,
Z. Harutyunyan – Deputy Head of the Aviation Safety Department of the GDCA of RA
V. Sayadyan – Chief Expert of the Flight Safety Department of the GDCA of RA.
The Commission carries out expert investigation in compliance with Annex 13 of the Convention on Civil Aviation, the 25 December 1991 Minsk Agreement “On Civil Aviation and Airspace Management,” and the legislation of the Republic of Armenia.
On february 14th, at 4:19a.m. local time, the SRJ-100LR jet (registration number EW101PJ) of “Belavia” Airlines, which realizes B2 1834 flight crashed in “Zvartnots” International Airport.

No victims registered among 18 passengers and 3 members of thecrew on board.
The injured are taken to hospital.
According to preliminary data, a few seconds after the flight, the aircraft sharply leant to the left and hit the runway with the wing. After that fire blaze up in the plane.
The fire fighting service “Zvartnots” Airport put out the fire in one minute. All passengers and members of the crew were evacuated by the emergency aid and aviation safety staff.
Artyom Movsesyan, Director General of the General Department of Civil Aviation, officials from the RA Police, RA National Security Services, and the General Prosecutor’s Office arrived at the occurrence location just after the accident.
At 9:00 a.m., Robert Kocharyan, President of the RA, summoned an emergency council with the Prosecutor General of the RA, the chiefs of Police and the National Security Services,and the Director General of the General Department of Civil Aviation.
Later, on the same day, Artyom Movsesyan, Director General of GDCA, at a press conference with media representatives, introduced the details of the incident and noted that a corresponding expert commission was established to carry out investigation of the crash. He also informed that the passengers who had suffered during the incident were rendered corresponding medical aid.
