From August 28 to September 1 the 57th Special session of the Heads of civil aviation authorities of European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) www.ecac-ceac.org will take place in Yerevan.
The representatives of nearly 40 member states will participate in the workshop of the session in Yerevan.
The Republic of Armenia has been ECAC member since 1996.
There are 43 member states in ECAC. The Conference holds 3 sessions annually where the heads of aviation authorities take part, two of them are organized in the ECAC headquarter in Paris and the third one, the Special session, by one of the member states’ invitation, is held in that country. The host state is given an opportunity to demonstrate the achievements gained in the domain of civil aviation in its country.

On July 1, 2008 in Riga of Latvian Republic an agreement “on Air Communication between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Latvia” was signed between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Latvia.
On behalf of the Republic of Armenia the Agreement was signed by Artyom Movsesyan, the Head of the General Department of the Civil Aviation at the Government of the Republic of Armenia and on behalf of the Republic of Latvia by Arnis Muiznieks, the Director of the Aviation Department of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Latvia.
The agreement will enable the airlines of both countries to enlarge the existing network providing more convenient connections.

On June 20, 2008 an intergovernmental agreement on air communication was signed between Armenia and Georgia in Tbilisi.



The agreement has been signed by Artyom Movsesyan, the Head of the General Department of the Civil Aviation at the Government of RA, on behalf of Armenia and by Ekaterina Sharashidze, the Minister of Economic Development, on behalf of Georgia.
The Agreement will help to develop the direct and transit passenger transportation between the two countries enabling them to use the existing air transportation network providing the passengers with regular and connected flights.

The coordinating- consulting recurrent meeting of aviamedical council of Interstate Aviation Committee IAC is going to take part on June 9-13 2008, which for the first time will be held in Yerevan.
High-ranking representatives, doctor-specialists, experts of aviamedical centers of CIS and Baltic countries will participate in the meeting.
Festival “Colorful Sky of Yerevan 2008” took place from 8 through 12 April in Yerevan. Eighteen crews from Moscow, Kiev and Minsk on their hot air balloons participated in this International Festival of Aerostatics.
Such event was held in Armenia for the first time, and the organizers had applied to the General Department of Civil Aviation at the Government of Armenia for authorization of the flights.
Conditions and requirements for realization of such flights are provided by the Order # 56-N of 11 April 2007 of Director General of GDCA of RA.
According to the order such flights should be reported to GDCA 24 hours prior to their realization. The application shall include information on the date, the anticipated airspace for realization of the flights, the minimum and maximum heights, the schemes of entering and leaving the airspace, information on the crew members of the aircraft /the hot air balloon in this case/, etc.
The application is denied when realization of the flights do not comply with the provisions of programs for realization of training or special flights that are agreed with the GDCA.
