Yerevan "Zvartnots" International Airport

Yerevan Zvartnots International Airport, the main gateway to Armenia, has been operating since 1961.The airport is located in 10 km from Yerevan. The operational indexes of the aerodrome (the geometric size and the capability of the aerodrome pavement) allow operating IL-86, AN-124 and similar aircrafts.

The aerodrome navigation system provides landing for aircraft at 30 x 300m meteo minima, which complies with ICAO Category II. In 1990s the considerable growth of cargo shipment resulted the construction of a cargo terminal in 1998, with an annual handling capacity of about 100,000 tons of cargo. The modern technical equipment, which is installed and operates in the cargo terminal comply with the current requirements of accepting, storage, custom clearance and transportation.

In compliance with the international standards new service facilities for VIP passengers and official delegations are functioning in the airport.

ՙ“Armenia International Airports” CJSC put in operation the new arrival and departure halls in September 2006 and May 2007 respectively.

Investing USD 97 million from the overall amount of USD 220 million allocated for the period of concession management, the airport already conforms to the high international standards.

Over 45.000 square meters of the area has been repaired since the Concession Agreement came into effect.

“Armenia International Airports” CJSC plans to make “Zvartnots” International Airport a regional center, which will provide opportunity to benefit from the favorable geographical location of Armenia. The new terminals of the airport will be the main gates to our country for the tourists, and at the same time they will connect Armenia with the world.

So far 34 international airlines join Yerevan with over 60 largest cities of the world,suchas: Paris, London, Frankfurt, Vienna, Dubai, Munich, Amsterdam, Beirut, Istanbul, Moscow, Prague, etc.

Gyumri "Shirak" Airport

Shirak Airport in Gyumri, has been operating since 1961, and is the second in the Republic of Armenia with its operation and economic indexes.

On the assumption of the requirement to modernize Gyumri “Shirak” Airport, as well as considering the fact that “Armenia International Airports” CJSC has applied to the Government of the Republic of Armenia with a proposal to undertake concession management of Gyumri “Shirak” Airport, having in view that financial investments are required for the runway and lights signal system of the airport, and taking note that “Shirak” Airport CJSC has limited resources for financial investments, the Government of the Republic of Armenia by the decision #965-N of 2 August 2007, the RA Government approved the addition to Concession Agreement #3, which has passed Gyumri “Shirak” Airport to concession management to “Armenia International Airports” CJSC.

At present Gyumri “Shirak” Airport provide services to about 46.000 passengers annually. It realizes regular flights to Moscow, Rostov-on-Don and Sochi.
In 2007 the General Department of Civil Aviation at the Government of Armenia assigned the ICAO Category I to “Shirak” Airport.
The Concessionaire in “Shirak” Airport has carried out the following work:

• new advanced navigation control system, which provides possibility to identify the aircrafts in the range of 400kilometers was installed, operates in the airport,
• completely asphalted the 1st runway,
• restored the runway of the airport, the old basement of the runway in whole length and 16 meters in width in central line was dug out, and a new basement with average 8 centimeters thickness was placed,
• new strip was built along the whole 51.200 square meters of  runway surface in length and in width,
• implemented patching repair work, installed new lights signal system (IDMAN), which includes approach lights, sequenced flashing lights, runway threshold lights, runway end lights,
• 3 check-in counters with all the necessary equipment were installed in the passengers’ section.

From now and on Gyumri “Shirak” Airport may be considered as the second alternative international airport in Armenia.

The navigation system replaced in aerodrome has 60x550m meteorologicals minimum conditions for landing wich is equal to ICAO's first group.

In 2007 the General Department of Civil Aviation at the Government of Armenia assigned the ICAO Category I to “Shirak” Airport.
